Villa Bokéh

ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA

Villa Bokéh is a luxury Relais & Chateaux hotel in the heart of a 6-acre garden, just a 10 minute drive from the centre of Antigua, one of three UNESCO World Heritage sites in Guatemala. The building infuses classic Guatemalan colonial architecture with contemporary design with private terraces and secluded gardens. There is an on-site boutique with a selection of local design products curated by owner, Claudia Bosch (who also owns sister property Casa Palopo on Lake Atitlan). There is plenty to do on the property, including a billiard room, fully-equipped gym, outdoor swimming pool and spa. Villa Bokéh offers full room service, but guests can also enjoy the sunlit, gourmet-style dining room for complimentary Guatemalan breakfasts, or the open kitchen which serves fresh pastries and fruit throughout the day. The pool area is surrounded by mature palm trees, has hot and cold Jacuzzis and charming daybeds. The poolside grill offers a summery menu including ceviche, pizza, and piña colada. The spa, found adjacent to the pool area, has an array of treatments inspired by Mayan traditions. Villa Bokéh is surrounded by one of the largest hotel gardens in Antigua; the verdant landscape has paths that wind around the impressive lake, river, and branching lily ponds. Guests can enjoy the tropical flowers, picturesque gazebo, lakeside solarium and tranquil waterfalls – all framed by the sweeping view of the Volcano Agua.

“The new @villabokeh is one of the most beautiful properties I have ever seen! The attention and care that was taken to revitalize the environment is amazing to see, as is the way the home celebrates Guatemalan culture of past and present through both textiles and modern art. What a treat this property is to future travelers to Antigua”

Additional Information

  • Villa Bokeh’s history is a tale of love and creativity. In the mid-nineties, an artist couple stumbled upon a patch of land on the skirts of the Volcano Agua. Drawing on napkins, the artists dreamed up a home that would not only serve as a base for their family, but also as an art studio and gallery. In the latest chapter of this beautiful mansion’s enchanting story, the building has been transformed into Antigua’s foremost boutique hotel, the city’s only Relais & Chateaux property.

  • Antigua: One of the oldest cities in the Americas, Antigua is also known to be one of its most beautiful. Thanks to its wonderfully preserved Spanish colonial architecture, it has been designated one of Guatemala’s three UNESCO World Heritage sites. Its cobbled stone streets are lined with pretty pastel coloured buildings which house art galleries, museums and restaurants, as well as impressive colonial monuments, such as the iconic Santa Catalina Arch and many churches, convents and monasteries. Much of Antigua’s old world charm can be soaked up by simply wandering the streets alone, yet with such a rich colonial past and fascinating history, it’s worth spending a day with a guide in order to scratch beneath its surface. Framing the city are three volcanoes which offer brilliant hiking and fabulous views, and a number of small coffee farms can be found dotted about the surrounding fertile valley which are fun to visit. No trip is complete without experiencing a bustling local market where the country’s indigenous communities gather to sell their wares. Guatemala is one of the few places where women still weave their beautiful traditional textiles all by hand, and many stunning examples of their work adorn the walls of Villa Bokeh itself.

  • Couples of Honeymooners: Villa Bokéh is a magical spot for honeymooners, especially so if they’ve travelled straight from their wedding and need some time to relax and unwind on arrival. Its Master Suite with its lovely balcony would be our recommendation.

Families: Villa Bokéh welcomes children and babies of all ages. The Premium Suite has one double bed and two twin beds and is ideal for families with younger children.

  • Villa Bokéh can assist in booking a private helicopter transfer to and from Guatemala City International Airport and other destinations within Guatemala, including sister property Casa Palopo. A flight from Guatemala City is approximately 15 minutes and it’s 20 minutes to Lake Atitlan.
