We hosted a private lunch at the chef’s table of Michelin star and World’s 50 Best restaurant, KOL. Ten Relais & Chateaux properties from the Central & South America delegation participated in the Mexican lunch hosting travel company owners and product managers.

We hosted a showcase with Colombian coffee and pastries at Notting Hill coffee shop, Hermanos. Ten Relais & Chateaux properties from the Central & South America delegation participated including: Awasi, Sol y Luna, Hotel B and Delfin Amazon Cruises.

We hosted a cocktail at Peruvian restaurant LIMA Fitzrovia for ten Relais & Chateaux properties from the Central & South America delegation including: Awasi, Sol y Luna, Hotel B and Delfin Amazon Cruises.

LOCATION: BATTERSEA PARK, LONDON

Ignacio Masias, CEO and Founder of Andean, and Gabriel hosted the launch of PUQIO in London. With pisco sours, Peruvian live music and picoteo in the park, we brought some of the magic of Peru to London for the evening.

Guests included members of the travel trade, press and Ignacio Higueras Hare, Peruvian Ambassador to the UK.

LOCATION: LONDON

Ines Orihuela and Sharon Del Rosario from Delfin Amazon Cruises joined Gabriel in London to host a creative morning making rugs in designs inspired by Amazon wildlife.

Guests created designs with sloths, pink river dolphins and kingfishers to take home and be reminded of the Peruvian Amazon.

Penelope Chilvers, was inspired during her trip to Guatemala to create the new spring 2023 collection. A Guatemalan-style cocktail for with a discussion on the inspiring nature of travel.

An evening of wine tasting for the Scott Dunn Private clients led by Head of Scott Dunn Private, Jules Maury. Gabriel was invited to represent Awasi and Vik and to give a talk about the properties and Chile as a destination.

A fundraiser for the Sol y Luna Foundation, a Peruvian charity that includes a school and orphanage for children from backgrounds of extreme poverty, many of whom have suffered violence and abuse.

As well as keynote speakers, there will be an auction led by a Sotheby’s auctioneer with exceptional prizes ranging from statement pieces by Peruvian luxury designer ESCVDO (as worn by Katy Perry), and stays at Relais & Chateaux properties across the world including a castle in Denmark and a trip-of-a-lifetime to Peru.

The long-awaited third edition of Around the World finally went ahead in September 2021 following serval postponements due to the pandemic. The event for travel agents who sell worldwide was the first in-person event in 18 months for the majority of guests. There were four separate events: one for the 360 Private Travel team, two at the Bingham Riverside Hotel and one in Gloucestershire with a life coach as the guest speaker.

Sol y Luna was awarded the winner of the Pure Awards 2019 for Community Engagement for the work of the Sol y Luna Foundation. This category is for a project or initiative that sensitively integrates the local community aligning itself with the values of he inhabitants, protecting the authenticity of their culture, and enriching the experience of the traveller.

Organised by LATA and the LATA Foundation in conjunction with South America Rep on behalf of the Sol y Luna Association, the LATA Captains of Industry fundraiser lunch at Gaucho, Piccadilly raised over £6000. Hosted by LATA Chairman and LATA Foundation trustee, Colin Stewart, the event comprised a 3-course meal, a thought-provoking keynote speech by adventurer and broadcaster Pip Stewart, a raffle and a fantastic auction, conducted by Sotheby’s Henry House.

A morning journeying ‘Around the World’. Meeting and catching up with some of the globe’s leading travel advocates, all together in one place, and learning some interesting tips & techniques along the way too.

LOCATION: GREEN ROOM WHATLEY MANOR

An intimate and exclusive event involving a cookery demonstration and wine tasting at fellow Relais & Chateaux hotel, Whatley Manor. Guests sampled South American dishes along with three matched wines (including two from Cavas Wine Lodge). This was followed by members presenting their properties to the group.

LOCATION: SECRET VENUE, POP UP STUDIO, HOLBORN

An original and innovative event at a Pop Up art studio in Shoreditch. Routed in the artistic initiatives that Delfin and Awasi have in common – the painting workshops Awasi is running with Guarani communities in Iguazu; and Delfin’s long-running support of local women in the Upper Amazon where they have guided and facilitated the construction of market places where local families can sell their handicrafts. Guest heard about these ventures from Lissy, owner of Delfin, and Matias, Director General of Awasi, before taking paintbrush to canvas themselves.

LOCATION: ANDINA NOTTING HILL

A Peruvian-style afternoon tea at for members of the travel trade attended by owner Martin Morales who gave a small speech finishing with a draw for a signed copy of one of his recipe books. Aldo and Lissy, owners of Delfin Amazon Cruises, did a presentation and gave away a 3-night stay aboard Delfin III. Pisco Sours and Peruvian delicacies were enjoyed by 25 members of the travel trade, from Tour Operators to Travel Agents and a representative from Prom Peru.

LOCATION: CHILEAN EMBASSY, LONDON

A wine tasting at the Chilean Embassy in London for 20 members of the travel trade to enjoy some Vik wine and chat with Julia, Commercial Manager from Vik Retreats. The Chilean Ambassador attended, as well as sales, owners and product managers of key Tour Operators and Travel Agents.

LOCATION: BREMONT, MAYFAIR, LONDON

Gabriel was the guest speaker at an event organised by Lightfoot Travel in association with the Forum Club. She was invited to talk about her adventures in Latin America with a focus on sustainable travel.

LOCATION: THE SOHO HOTEL, LONDON

Gabriel planned, organised and hosted a Latin America Movie Night at London’s Soho Hotel where 7 short films were shown an audience of 100 people, including members of the travel trade, press, instagram influencers and past guests.

The inspiration for the event came from the production of a new film for the Latin America Relais & Chateaux delegation (for which Gabriel was the script-writer and co-producer).

The following Relais & Chateaux hotels participated: Awasi (Chile and Argentina), Sol y Luna (Peru), Hotel B (Peru), Delfin Amazon Cruises (Peru), Casa Palopo (Guatemala), Cavas Wine Lodge (Argentina) and Txai (Brazil).

LOCATION: THE BINGHAM HOTEL, RICHMOND

Around the world is a new joint venture developed in conjunction with a small group of like-minded UK reps (all owners of their companies, Gabriel is the only one representing hotels in Latin America). The concept came from a desire to provide an evening for travel agents who sell worldwide trips and to train them in a different environment – hence starting with mindfulness, before networking, and finishing with a local gin tasting.
