In 2019, Awasi commissioned a study, undertaken by external experts, to determine the carbon emissions generated by Awasi’s three lodges as well as the carbon sequestered by the forested areas controlled by Awasi. Emissions generated include staff transfers between properties, as well as emissions generated by guests travelling to and from Awasi lodges from their countries of origin. By protecting and maintaining 340 hectares of virgin forest and native woodland in Iguazu and Patagonia, which absorb over 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, Awasi have been able to offset the carbon emissions from their operations, ensuring that Awasi is officially carbon neutral.

Children over the age of 10 are welcome (the private guide and 4WD make Awasi a great option for families as you can go at your own pace). Children between 10 and 18 years of age, pay 50% of the regular rate.

Property Location
Getting There: There are numerous daily flights from Santiago de Chile (SCL) north to Calama (CJC), the closest domestic airport to Awasi Atacama. Fight duration is 2 hours. Private guides will be awaiting Awasi guests at the airport (no waiting for other guests!) to transport them in their personal 4WD vehicles to the lodge. The drive is 90 minutes.
