Gastronomy: An a la carte breakfast is served from 7.30am (with no finish time) in Espaco das Bateiras (Bateiras is a typical local fishing boat) a wooden building overlooking the water (or in your bungalow). Lunch and Dinner is served at Vezela restaurant by the beach and twice a week (wednesdays and saturdays) there is a Seafood buffet and barbeque lunch. From thursday through to sunday guests can enjoy a relaxed dinner at Patio Casqueiro. Private dinners can also be arranged on the Island, the beach or the Veleza corner as well as private picnics in the garden.

Ponta dos Ganchos is family-owned, run by Nicholas Peluffo and his sister Virginia, both of whom take pride in its tranquility and unostentatious luxury… always trying to bridge the traditional gap between what guests want and what suits management. Breakfast, for instance - with an optional tasting menu - is available all day.

  • Ponta dos Ganchos welcomes guests over 18. The property is set within a quiet and secluded spot with no nightlife, so is best suited for those looking to completely relax. The facilities are all very spread out offering a great deal of privacy and so perfect for couples looking for a romantic break. The location  is very hilly, with steep steps and walkways to get around (buggies are available to help) but those with mobility issues should check with the hotel before booking.

  • Ponta dos Ganchos’s peaceful, quiet and secluded spot ensures it’s the perfect place for pure relaxation. The tiny islands surrounding the beach protect it from the Atlantic Ocean, making it a wonderful swimming spot - snorkels, masks and flippers are provided as are canoes and stand up paddles. There is also an indoor heated pool for the cooler winter months. Staff can arrange boat trips (either by traditional fishing boat or modern motor boat) as well as excursions further afield such as rafting, scuba diving and paragliding. On site, they have a tennis court as well as beach tennis, there are some short nature walks and also a games room with private cinema. The Spa by Sisley looks over the sea and offers a variety of pampering therapies and treatments.

  • High Season is from December to April, where daytime temperatures (thanks to the coastal breeze) tend not to exceed 30 degrees C. Due to the higher humidity during January and February these months tend to experience heavier tropical downpours but rain can be expected at any time throughout the year of course. During the winter months of June to September temperatures usually reach around 21 degrees C.

  • More than 70% of the workforce at Ponta dos Ganchos are local residents from the fishing village. 38% of them are sons and daughters of the fisherman from the same region. 

    In the Organic Garden organic waste goes through a composting process, and is used for fertilizing the vegetable garden.

    Wastes are 100% recycled and treated waste water from the sewage station  is used for gardening. Rainwater is used to wash the cars and laundry. 

    The bungalows have an intelligent and sustainable design, with cross ventilation, solar panels, green roofs, and the use of reforestation wood. More than ten thousand native tree seedlings have been planted in the surrounding area.

Getting There: The nearest airport is in Florianopolis (FLN), and it’s an hour’s drive to the hotel.  A return private in a private executive car costs BRL 1,100.00, for 2 people with an English-speaking driver.
